The previous episode of House has taken a discouraging twist when Lawrence Kutner played by Kal Penn was not present for the work. Dr. Lawrence Kutner is dead. He has commited suicide by by gunfire. People at work were curious why Dr Lawrence Kutner did not show up to work, and decided to send Foreman and Thirteen to investigate. They went to his apartment and found Kutner dead in a pool of blood.
